This day i focused on how social media platform and the entertainment part influence the value of the sport business. The evolution in the distribution of sports content has been gaining momentum in recent years, which have seen right holders on the one hand closing important partnerships with platforms such as Amazon, Twitter and Facebook, and on the other developing projects from scratch such as Dugout, WWE Networks and more. Consumption habits by fans are irreversibly shifting to mobile and social media, so the agreements with Twitter and Facebook are not surprising, given both the reach they guarantee and the live experience they offer in their feed. More intriguing is the challenge of those properties that have decided to develop their own "home of sport", where to attract fans and distribute content produced both internally and by third parties. When this is the choice, the primary objectives are to obtain first-party data, i.e. the maximum profiling of users to be able to reach them with re-marketing strategies, and to monetize 100% of the revenues that come from advertisers, instead of dividing the shares with the giants of social networks. The partnership between Twitter and the NFL has been at the center of discussions on the world of sports broadcasting rights, as it has ensured the definition of an event consumption experience that is completely different from the traditional one. The agreement for the Thursday Night rights of the top American football league was the cornerstone of a very broad strategy by Twitter, aimed at becoming the reference in the world of video streaming to help the social network attract new advertising investments and reassure their lenders, disheartened by the difficulty of generating profit. The PGA golf circuit, the NBA, the MLB, esports organizations (this is the official spelling, as established a few weeks ago by the Associated Press), are some of the realities that have brought their events to the Twitter timeline.
